Kone Hewaran (Old Grounds)
Today my path led me to old grounds Since I last saw you there, I’ve seen no joy Today I went to the grounds of Marea Where the mountains were aflame, And the acorn trees wept Where the mountain shrubs brushed against the face of the rocks their branches entwining, dancing in the cool breeze I wish I was like the trees that died and came alive again And only once every year, their leaves would open Today my path led me to the grounds of old No longer could I hear the nightingale sing No longer could I hear the cry of the swan
